Director's Welcome

Jean Shipman

Welcome to the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library and to its affiliates, the Hope Fox Eccles Health Library and the Hope Fox Eccles Clinical Library! Whether you are accessing the libraries from your office, home or mobile device, or if you are physically using our campus spaces, we welcome you to explore the many information resources and services at your fingertips. The libraries' faculty and staff are honored to assist you as you discover the many terrific ways to retrieve, analyze and store what you need to be effective at your job or with your learning.

Some of our most popular offerings include thousands of journals, many of which are electronic full text, a variety of research databases and access to other library collections through our interlibrary loan service. Our Library Catalog is the master tool to find items the library makes available. In addition, there are many classes offered both within our college and school curricular as well as in the library - check out our Consultations page. Browse our many digital collections including HEAL and NOVEL. As you can see by exploring this portal, we provide news via our front page as well as our online newsletter, ESynapse. Via these, we inform you of what's new, special events, tips on using your computer and resources, as well as highlights of key services.

Wondering where to publish your next article? We can offer guidance about the various alternative publishing venues now available. Our "Publishing Smart" class can increase the visiblity of your article. We also host a Facebook page, so be sure to click on "Like!"

Through a distributed model, we serve as the regional medical library for the MidContinental Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine for the states of Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Utah, and Wyoming. We are also the only NN/LM Training Center in the country. We also operate the Spencer F. and Cleone P. Eccles Health Sciences Education Building - fondly called the HSEB. Be sure to grab lunch or a snack at the HSEB's England Hub.

Feel free to consider the libraries your home away from home, and let us know how we can help you. There are several ways you can send us suggestions - and even chat with us in real time or just give me a call. We look forward to hearing from you and being partners in your educational, research, administrative or patient care endeavors. Make us your most trusted source of quality health information!
