The health sciences community is in need of permanent, reliable, stable and Internet-accessible repositories of relevant, peer-reviewed, full-text research. The Web Gallery offers links to the people and institutions that are driving the development of such resources. In addition, it also presents search results that highlight University of Utah authors who have published in open access journals.

National Resources

• PubMed Central
  U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) free digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature
• National Institutes of Health Public Access Policy
  Policy on Enhancing Public Access to Archived Publications Resulting from NIH-Funded Research
• National Library of Medicine Biomedical Research and Informatics
  Provides links to National Library of Medicine resources on informatics, communication engineering, digital libraries and other related topics.
• SPARC (Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition)
  SPARC was developed by the Association of Research Libraries and is focused on facilitating the emergence of systems that capitalize on the networked environment to disseminate research.
• OpenDOAR (Directory of Open Access Repositories)
  The OpenDOAR service is being developed to support the rapidly emerging movement towards Open Access to research information.

University of Utah Resources

• Scholary Communication
  The Eccles Health Sciences Library has embarked on a campaign to promote new models of scholarly publishing to University of Utah faculty and researchers.
• Institutional Repository
  The Institutional Repository Initiative is a collaborative project between the libraries at the University of Utah and the University community. The goal is to collect and archive the intellectual capital of the institution and make these scholarly materials freely available on the Internet.
