She graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor in Nursing. Her nursing experience has included recovery room, ICU and the ER. For 10 years she was the Executive Director of Intermountain's Ask-A-Nurse, a program of telephone triage by registered nurses.
Her experience with alternative methods of health care delivery has lead to her current work as the Clinical Channel Director for Intermountain Healthcare's e-Business department formed in 2001. She is responsible for the clinical content found on their consumer and internal websites. She is the product manager for My Health - Intermountain's patient portal.
Intermountain Healthcare's My Health Patient Portal—simple to use, available around the clock and completely private. My Health is a tethered patient portal—registered patients are provided a read-only view of sections of their Intermountain electronic medical record (EMR) and online secure messaging with their participating doctors.
Further, SelectHealth members who sign up also have access to their health plans information on benefits, medical, dental and pharmacy claims, year to date out of pocket and other helpful insurance features.
Sections of the Intermountain electronic medical records that patients can view include the following:
- Labs results (including scanned reports)
- Microbiology results
- Imaging text reports
- Medication list
- Allergy list
- Health Concerns (problem list)
- Past and Pending Appointments (scheduled through Intermountain appointment services)
Helpful links to other reliable patient online health resources are included in each area to provide additional information to help patients make sense of their PHR data.
Patients can securely send specific request based message types directly to the EMR's clinical messaging system regarding appointments, visits, referrals and test results. The NICU at McKay-Dee Hospital Center also offers “PATIENTCAM”. Parents are registered for My Health access for a web-cam view of their infants during their stay in this NICU. Patients can create/print a pocket size Emergency Medical Card based on information already in the Intermountain EMR and may customize this information with any other additional details they may wish to store and include for their personal use. (No changes are made in either My Health or our EMR.) Patients may also print out a CCR-compliant document to share information with other providers outside of the Intermountain Healthcare delivery system. Patients can also pay any hospital facility bill online with their “Hospital Bills” feature.
