This year's InfoFair focuses on the Personal Health Record or PHR. The PHR, as opposed to the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or the Electronic Health Record (EHR), is kept by the individual. As the keeper of the PHR, the individual patient maintains a summary record of their health and well-being. This information can be shared with healthcare providers at the direction of the patient. It is not surprising that there are a number of programs available to help the patient track this information. InfoFair 2010 explores issues and products to address the possibility, portability and privacy of the personal health record.

As noted in a recent Salt Lake Tribune article:

"For a decade, electronic medical records have been long on potential and short on results. Promises of smarter, lower-cost health care have collided with privacy concerns, high up-front costs and a lack of standards that would allow providers to share information about patients."

The Clifford C. Snyder, M.D. and Mary Snyder Lecture

keynote speaker is Kenneth D. Mandl, M.D., M.P.H., an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Intelligent Health Laboratory at the Children's Hospital Informatics Program in Boston Massachusetts.
